Steps

1. Read the questions
(understand the question)

(have a rough idea what the story is about)

2. Circle keywords (especially the question words 5W1H)

3. Read the passage

4. Bracket the clues. Tag the clues with the question numbers.

– Ask yourself if there is more
5. **Annotate if there is a need, especially for higher order questions

6. Answer in short simple sentences. Combine the sentences using commas or simple connectors.

7. Check the answer.

– Does it answer the question?

– Are the details complete?

Things to look out for

– must be aware of the characters at all times, as in who is the one talking, who is the one doing etc

– must be aware of the actions and happening, as in who does, and what is done etc

– must be aware of the time and order of events

* Question regarding the order of events must be correctly answered.
